Expresar la intención de realizar una acción futura que ya está decidida:
- I'm going to visit my friend Carla. Visitaré (Tengo intenciones de visitar) a mi amiga Carla.
- What are you going to do at the weekend?. ¿Qué harás durante el fin de semana?.
- Look at those clouds. It's going to rain. Mira esas nubes. Lloverá. (Va a llover).

- GOING TO + INFINITIVO
Y con el infinitivo del verbo principal: to visit, to answer.

Cuando el verbo en infinitivo que utilizas después de going to es el verbo go, puedes abreviar la frase de esta manera:
- Oración sin omitir to go: We're going to go to the cinema on Friday.
- Oración abreviada (omite to go): We're going to the cinema on Friday.
- Oración sin omitir Go: Where are you going to go?.
- Oración abreviada (omite go): Where are you going to?.
- I'm not going to play tennis tomorrow.
- She's not / She isn't going to watch TV this evening.
- What is he going to do?.
- Are you going to stay at home tonight?.
- Is it going to rain?.
