Condicional cero: características y ejemplos

Este condicional se refiere a una situación que es siempre verdadera. El condicional cero se utiliza para expresar hechos o situaciones que en teoría siempre se cumplen. El condicional cero también se utiliza para expresar verdades científicas.

Recuerda que utilizamos los condicionales para indicar un resultado. Su estructura consiste en dos frases, la principal y la que indica la condición:

If it doesn't rain, the road doesn’t get wet.
Si no llueve la carretera no se moja.

If you put water in a cooler, it freezes.
Si colocas agua en el congelador, ésta se congela.

If I work too much, I get tired.
Si trabajo demasiado, me canso.

If you drop ice in water, it floats.
Si tiras hielo al agua, éste flota.

If she doesn't know the answer, she keeps silent.
Si ella no sabe la respuesta, se mantiene en silencio.

If I have time, I usually go to the movies.
Si tengo tiempo, generalmente voy al cine.

If you heat butter, it melts.
Si calientas manteca, ésta se derrite.

If iron gets wet, it rusts.
Si el hierro se moja, se oxida.

If we don't go out on Saturdays, we rent a video and stay home.
Si no salimos los sábados, alquilamos un video y nos quedamos en casa.

If you cross an international date line, the time changes.
Si cruzas una línea de tiempo internacional, la hora cambia.

If you heat water to 100 degrees, it boils.   
Si calientas agua a 100 grados, ésta hierve.
